Buyer

SUMMARY

Manages and coordinates the activities of purchasing electronic components, mechanical parts, raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies for organization.  Obtains necessary purchases at lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery date. Recommends improvements in overall purchasing program which will advance the interests of the organization.

 OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Share the responsibility of providing positive cash flow and profitability of the Company with all other employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Initiate requests for quotes (RFQ) and select best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements. Negotiate and manage long term pricing agreements on critical commodities, utilizing blankets orders.
  • Enter purchase orders into computer system, obtain confirmations then scan into DocStar.
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage on-going supplier relationships with key distributors/vendors.
  • Buyer will negotiate with suppliers on all conflicts and/or questions concerning pricing, delivery dates, quality and required packaging.  Verifies receipt of materials and/or services and approves invoices for payment as required.
  • Handles procurements for build-to-print-parts after determining price and availability through formal and informal requests for quotes (RFQs) of components used to build product.
  • Expedite to an ever changing schedule.
  • Researches and provides constant feedback to department and management relative to material shortages and supplier’s capacity and capabilities. Work with Supervisor and Engineers to have alternate components spec’d in due to excessive lead time.
  • Maintains proper inventory levels per order policy. Interacts with personnel throughout the site with frequent outside contacts to discuss/negotiate difficult technical problems.
  • Process non-conforming material requests (NCMR) and RMA requests with distributors/vendors, in a timely manner.
  • Answer to monthly Purchase Price Variance report, as well as, Supplier on Time Delivery report.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other job related tasks as needed; enabling other workers to achieve their job objectives.
  • Approves all purchases within a pre-determined limit.
  • Performs internal company audits in accordance with ISO-9000 standards
  • Heavily involved in Annual Standard Costing quoting and Year End Blanket renewal.
  • Due to interface with global suppliers (time zone differences), the desirable candidate will need to be flexible on the hours worked.
  • Works overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Comply with all work rules, including but not limited to, the Company’s safety and attendance policies.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Work experience in an electronics manufacturing environment beneficial
  • Efficient organization and time-management skills
  • Six Sigma, APICS, CPIM . Certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (Kaizen, Kanban, Standard Work, 1-piece flow and 5’s)
  • Knowledge of MRP Systems
  • Ability to organize work, document and/or report concisely and accurately and be thorough in carrying out the responsibilities of the job.
  • Ability to handle multiple vendors/priorities with minimal supervision under challenging conditions
  • Demonstrates an active commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery and Lead Time.

Electronic Technician

Summary

Performs routine tests on products manufactured for sale. Responsible for performing the following: calibration, hypot, transient and final test routines. Also responsible for performing one or a combination of installing, repairing or troubleshooting electronic assemblies to the component level on solid state or digital electronic equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Tests, troubleshoots and repairs electronic assemblies that do not conform to specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records of test data and test time.
  • Actively supports our continuous improvement quality program by providing feedback and recommendation on activities centered round work station.
  • Accesses product information from MIS terminal and run ATS programs and program EEPROMS.
  • Tests products according to specification within prescribed time standard.
  • Accurately reports time spent on various jobs, Electrical Summaries, Contract Reports and other required forms used to complete the manufacturing process.

Equipment/Tools

The employee should be able to effectively use Digital multimeters, oscilloscopes (analog/digital), synthesizer/functional generator, AC power supply, DC power supply, hypot tester (AC/DC), hand solder tools, PC computer.

Education And/Or Experience

AA degree in electronics or equivalent. Two years’ experience in a production test environment. Prior experience using Windows Office Suite software such as Word and Excel. Knowledge of DOS environment. Hand soldering experience is required.

Skills & Knowledge

The employee should have:

  • Ability to isolate faults accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Training in troubleshooting solid state and digital circuits to the component level.
  • Ability to work in an organized efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting digital and active filter circuits at production level and be able to demonstrate that knowledge.
  • General electronics and technical repair background and apply that background to Beckwith Product base.
  • Have or develop working knowledge of Beckwith products.

Language Skills

The employee should be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, schematics, work instructions, or standards used by our industry such as ANSI & IEEE. Should have the ability to write, analyze test reports, and technical procedure manuals. Should have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Should be able to read blue prints, wiring diagrams, assembly and schematic drawings and interpret special instructions regarding work to be done as required by customer, product specification.

Mathematical Skills

Must be able to work with mathematical concepts which deal with electronic theory. In addition, must be aware of statistical inference, and have the ability to apply concepts of algebra and trigonometry.

  • Ability to read and interpret assembly process documentation.
  • Precision soldering to the IPC-A-610C
  • Knowledge of surface mount assembly and rework may be required.

SUMMARY

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Share the responsibility of providing positive cash flow and profitability of the Company with all other individuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receives product from Inventory and Quality Control and packages for shipment. Verifies shipper information against units received, along with a visual inspection of the units.
  • Package units using preset procedures and standards from Sealed Air and Beckwith Electric.
  • Fills out required paperwork for carrier and method of shipment.
  • Enters data into manifest system, prints required reports, and all other related duties.
  • Perform routine maintenance on Sealed Air system.
  • Monitors stock levels of shipping supplies, and re-orders when needed.
  • Comply with all work rules, including but not limited to, the Company’s safety and attendance policies.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Performs additional pick-up and delivery duties as needed.
  • Modify select piece parts per drawing as needed.
  • Assist inventory control as needed.

Quality Inspector

SUMMARY

The Quality inspector is responsible for inspecting electronic subassemblies, final assemblies and parts for compliance to specifications and workmanship standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Quality Inspectors – Inspect product manufactured for sale, units repaired through customer service

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect in-house fabricated and supplier hardware for conformance to specification tolerance utilizing any required gages and special equipment.
  • Work in accordance with quality control standards and instructions and prepares documentation, i.e., appropriate stamps and related tags as required.
  • May use handling devices and operate handling equipment to support inspection.
  • Perform process mechanical inspection.
  • Comply with all work rules, including but not limited to, the Company’s safety and attendance policies.
  • Work overtime as required.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Customer Service / Returns team with issuing RMAs.
  • Maintain accuracy of all inspection tasks.
  • May periodically be required to support ISO documentation maintenance.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS:

  • Calipers, Multimeters, Pin Gages, Hole Gauges, Micrometers, Screw Driver, Torque Drivers, Electric Screw Driver, UV light Table, Microscope, miscellaneous mechanical hardware, Soldering Iron, PC or equivalent and photocopier.

  • Comprehend ISO standards and requirements.
