Wayne Hartmann, Senior VP of Customer Excellence, is presenting “Generator Protection Digital Upgrades” at the EPRI Turbine Generator Users Group Meeting (TGUG). This presentation explores the advantages of digital protection as applied to large generators. Advantages include protection element designs and applications that enhance security, dependability and NERC compliance. Additionally, the event and forensic reporting abilities allow concise and rapid diagnosis of generator trips and operations. These may allow rapid placement of a tripped generator back into service, help to pinpoint detailed testing to assess condition and aid in NERC reporting.
