In general, hardware is defined as the mechanical equipment or devices needed for performing an activity. In computers, hardware is the term used to describe the physical parts of the computer and related devices. Typical computer hardware components include: hard drives, motherboards, video cards, power supplies, monitors, scanners, printers, keyboards, and mice. (“Software” is excluded.)
