Largo, Florida – December 18, 2017 – Beckwith Electric announces the promotion of Hugo Monterrubio to Vice President of Strategic Partnership Development & Marketing and Drew Welton to Vice President of Sales & Creative Technical Solutions.

As Vice President of Strategic Partnership Development & Marketing, Mr. Monterrubio will lead joint solution development efforts in collaboration with Beckwith Electric’s cutting-edge technology capabilities for the growth of Beckwith’s key partner relationships. The new role was created to capitalize on the growing momentum that is positioning Beckwith Electric in more strategic partnerships and worldwide markets. In addition, Mr. Monterrubio will continue leading marketing for Beckwith that drives growth and increases brand awareness.

Mr. Monterrubio brings over 28 years of experience in advanced distribution grid applications such as Distribution System Optimization, Volt/VAr Optimization and Conservation Voltage Reduction, as well as solutions for Fault Location, Isolation and System Restoration. He also has extensive experience in reclosers, sectionalizers and loop restoration schemes. Power plant experience includes protective relaying, automation, control, voltage regulators, excitation control, motor bus transfer systems and systems communication.

Prior to becoming the Vice President of Strategic Partnership Development & Marketing, he was Director of Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager, and Regional Sales Manager for Central U.S. and Canada at Beckwith. Before joining Beckwith, he worked for Basler Electric as an International Sales Manager and also managed the International Service Solution Center in Miami. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering degree from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and a Masters of International Business Administration degree from St. Louis University. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Power Engineering Society, and the Power Systems Relaying and Control Committee where he is the current Chair of the Awards and Recognitions working group.

Drew Welton has been promoted to Vice President of Sales & Creative Technical Solutions. In his new role, he will provide strategic leadership to the sales management team as well as provide creative technical solutions to our customers. Mr. Welton joined Beckwith Electric in 2016 as Director of Sales to provide strategic sales leadership and to further develop and execute sales channels.

Previously, Mr. Welton was the North American Regional Manager for OMICRON, starting in 1997. Prior to his career with OMICRON, Drew was a Regional Sales Manager with Beckwith Electric. He also served as National Sales Director for Substation Automation with AREVA T&D.

Mr. Welton has written numerous articles on substation maintenance testing, and has conducted numerous training sessions for substation technicians and engineers at utilities and universities across North America. He is a 20 year Senior Member of IEEE-PES and presented at a number of industry conferences specific to power system protection and control. He is a Graduate of Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
