Largo, Florida – March 23, 2010 – Beckwith Electric introduces the M-6200A Voltage Regulator Control with features derived from customer input. The unit is built upon the latest Smart Grid ready platform, 7th generation microprocessor based control, which incorporates the latest in technology USB ports, SD card uploading, and Bluetooth communications.

The control is designed for installation on new regulators, or for retrofit replacements of older controls. The panel mechanically and electrically replaces current production regulator controls with mounting hardware, harnesses and end terminations matching GE, Howard, Cooper, or Siemens regulator configurations.

Front panel HMI (Human Machine Interface) programming and utilizing the front panel USB port, along with the S-6200 TapTalk™ customer interface software of the M-6200A regulator control are simple and straight forward. Standard protocols supported by the M-6200A are DNP 3.0 and MODBUS. The next release of the M-6200A will support IEC 61850 over Ethernet. Serial communications are available through fiber optics using ST and V-pin connectors, RS-232 or RS-485 ports are available for SCADA communications. Ethernet is available over copper RJ-45 (10/100 Base-T) connector or over fiber optics ST or V-pin (100 Base-FX) connectors for network communications.

The M-6200A also utilizes a convenient SD Memory Card slot to allow the user to upload set points, configuration files, and DNP mapping configurations to the control, as well as downloads of data logging files, events files, and oscillography files without the need for a laptop in the field. The “cloning” feature is a huge advantage for setting multiple regulator controls. The SD Card can also be used for any future firmware updates.
