U.S. Department of Commerce Honors Beckwith Electric for Export Achievement

Largo, Florida – March 23, 2010 – On Wednesday, March 17th, the United States Department of Commerce honored Beckwith Electric’s CEO, Mr. Tom Beckwith and family, with the prestigious Export Achievement award. In attendance at the ceremony were; Theodore Johnston, Chief of Staff, Office of the Under Secretary, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce; Sandra Campbell, Acting Director, U.S. Commercial Services; Shirley Miaoulis, District Representative, Office of Congressman Young; Sarah Anderson, Regional Director, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson; as well as several other state, county, and city export officials.

The U.S. Export Achievement Certificate recognizes companies that have benefited from U.S. Commercial Service’s export assistance to either make their first export sale or open new markets. Beckwith Electric has aggressively pursued markets in Latin America, South Africa and Asia using their extensive expertise and determination. With the help of the Tampa Bay U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, their network of international sales representatives, and dedicated staff, Beckwith opened new markets in Mexico, China and the Middle East.

International sales are key to the company’s success. In fact, 28% of Beckwith’s total sales are export sales. To keep up with rapidly growing foreign sales, the company has increased its workforce 16% over the last seven years.
